The Project
AGROINNOECO is a project co-funded by the European Union (ERDF) and by National Funds of the participating countries (Greece, Albania, Bulgaria and Cyprus) which addresses the issue of pre-incubation in Agri-food Sector (incl. Agri/Aquaculture) as a necessary step for filling the existing gap between institutes of higher education & development structures, for the facilitation of innovation transfer.
It aims to develop an open innovative business friendly ecosystem in the participating countries (the RIMAs), based on the 3 pillars of a "triple helix" approach that will facilitate the identification, maturing & promotion of innovative entrepreneurial ideas in Agri-food sector.
The Regional Innovation Mechanism in Agri-food (RIMA) is an innovative mechanism (i.e. a hub) that incorporates bodies and personalities covering and representing the three-stranded model in this area, i.e. Policy-Academic Research-Entrepreneurship, assisted by funding bodies and business support organisations. The hub is designated for start-ups in the Agri-food field. The aim is to lead and assist each one to become an economically healthy business, with the needed know-how for entrepreneurship and the support of the network of the hub, through education, mentoring and networking. Moreover, RIMA will coordinate the cooperation of its partial parts with the aim of the creation and implementation of common development actions. Improving the business environment, disseminating the knowledge through the hub and also creating powerful networks between units and entrepreneurships are the main targets of RIMA.
